During this season of social distancing, technology has kept many of us connected. We are exploring new ways to connect and utilize our digital devices. Waste management has tech resources available. Take advantage of this socially quiet time to check them out.
Recycle Coach: For the Dallas-Forth Worth area, the app features a personalized calendar with pickup and event reminders. Get reminders for pick up days or a change in routine due to holidays. Great feature is the “What Goes Where.” Find out what to do with your batteries, paint and other hard to dispose of materials.
Litterati: Join the Global Challenge to pick up litter! This app allows you to take a photo of litter and document the find on a map. It may sound a little odd, but in researching the app it really raised awareness and a desire to pick up more trash! Very interesting app and social movement. iRecycle: Outside of the common recyclable items like paper, glass and cans it can be a struggle to know what or how to dispose of items. So often we stand over the garbage cans wondering where to throw the light bulb or wine corks. There’s an app for that!
iRecycle app has a handy touch home screen to for those common items and information on how to dispose of them.
Trash Truck Simulator: You know you’ve always wanted to drive one of those trucks. This game allows players to haul around town. Drive the truck, pick up garbage and try not to dump everything in the street!
Available on Google Play, Apple TV, and PC.
