HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN YOUR POOL

HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN YOUR POOL

Owning a pool can be amazing, especially during extremely hot seasons when the temperature becomes uncomfortable and you need to cool off. The fact is that having a pool is one thing, while knowing how to care for it is an entirely different ball game. Without the knowledge of proper maintenance of your pool, it can turn out to be an unattractive mess. Your pool could get infested by algae, or your filters, motors, and pumps start getting faulty, and knowing how to handle or prevent these is important.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO CARE FOR YOUR POOL:

  1. Skim off surface dirt: Skimming off the surface of your pool to clean up leaves, debris, and dirt is a task that should be done daily. You should use a long-handle skimmer to skim off every debris floating on the surface of your pool before they find their way to the bottom of your pool, accumulate, and discolor the bottom of your pool. Regular scrubbing of the sides and bottom of your pools also helps to get rid of stains that may have accumulated with time and would keep your pool looking clean, sparkling, and attractive.

  2. Clean the filter: The function of the filter in your pool is to get rid of the dirt that may have found its way to your pool. Regularly take out the filter cap and filter basket to get rid of the dirt. It is also vital to clean your entire filter system at least once a month, which can be done by backwashing.

  3. Use your pump: It is vital to keep your pump running for a specified amount of time every day; this helps to properly circulate the chemicals in your pool and also ensures the water in your pool is well filtered.

  4. Watch out for cracks: Always be on the lookout for cracks or openings on your pool walls, bottom, and even on your pool deck. Cracks and crevices should be closed up with clear silicon and should not be left as a pathway via which water continuously runs.

  5. Keep the chemical levels up. Your pool ought to be maintained at a certain chemical level daily to kill off bacteria and germs and prevent their infestation; hence regular testing of the pH, chlorine and cyanuric levels of your pool can help ensure your pool is safe and wouldn’t result in any health implications.
