Keep America Beautiful, a national nonprofit founded in 1953, focuses on preserving and beautifying our country and the environment. As part of that focus, Keep America
Beautiful designates an annual event, “America Recycles Day,” on or around November 15 each year. This initiative puts a spotlight on recycling across the country, especially educating at the community level about how recycling works and why it benefits us. A key component of America Recycles Day is the Pledge. So far, over 80,000 Americans have taken the America Recycles Day Pledge to Learn, Act, and Share about recycling. Learn The EPA offers valuable free resources to help Americans learn more about the Basics of Recycling, How to Recycle, and even Hazardous Waste Recycling. PBS offers a long list of recycling programs to watch, including special children’s programming on recycling including Sid the Science Kid. If you prefer a premium course, a selection of courses on recycling are available on Udemy for all ages and on Outschool for school-age learners. Act To organize a Keep America Beautiful event in your local neighborhood, or to volunteer at an existing event, visit the Volunteer page for detailed information. Or, you can connect with other environmental authorities groups in the region, including the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Conservation Alliance. Locally, accurate guidance on recycling laws and practices can be found on recycling in the DFW area at the Dallas City Hall Sanitation Page and the City of Fort Worth Recycling Page.
Instead of throwing everything away in the trash so it will end up in a landfill, help teach kids you can recycle many things so they can become new products. Recycling reduces waste and helps save natural resources such as wood and water. You can feel good about helping the environment when you recycle because you'll be saving energy and reducing pollution. Share Please do your part by sharing this blog post and other great resources to promote America Recycles Day to those in your family, workplace, and community. Keep America Beautiful says: “We envision a country in which every community is a clean, green, and beautiful place to live.”
We couldn’t agree more. Thanks for doing your part.
