5 STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN PAINTING A ROOM

Painting a room can seem very challenging, especially when you don't know where to start or how to go about it. Most times, we only focus on certain important things while we neglect other things that could contribute to the perfectness of our painting. Here are the steps to follow when painting a room:

Consider the Lighting of the Room

Whenever you set out to purchase painting supplies, always consider the kind of bright or Sunlight LED light bulbs in the room(s) as such can have a great effect on the outlook of your paint.

The painting supplies, such as brush, roller, and painter’s tape, should be of high quality. Tools and supplies like the putty knife, primers, sealants, sanding paper, etc. should all be bought while putting the kind of lighting of the room to be painted in mind.

Ensure You Clear the Room

When you take note of the irregularities around the room before painting, then you have taken a big step to achieve an exquisitely perfect painting.

You can fix dents and damages by lightly sanding; rinsing or scraping any flakes or cracks on the wall before the application of any fresh coat of paint. Moisturize your sponge with water and dishwashing soap to avoid greasy spots on walls.

Move out your belongings from the room to be painted but if it’s an impossible task, then ensure you cover the floors, electronic equipment, and furniture with drop cloths for proper protection.

Prep the Surface

For your new paint to properly stick to the surface, make sure you apply a primer just in case the walls have been painted.

In case of ceiling or walls in extremely bad shape, use an oil-based or a water-based primer on sturdier stains then leave it to dry for a period of 8 – 10 hours. After this, use size-220 fine-grit sandpaper to sand the spots.

Take Room’s Measurement and Box Your Paint

Failure to take measurements of the room to be painted before going for the amount of paint needed does not speak well of you as a painter.

Make sure you measure the room’s length and breadth before getting the paint ready.

Mix all the paint available into one big vessel so that your colors will remain accordant throughout the period of painting. Do this in order to avoid bucket-by-bucket groundwork, which is often inconsistent.

Apply Your Paint

After you mask your tape in order to protect your trim work, mix and stir your paint well before you commence painting from the top of the wall.

The next step is painting in “W” shapes and then you paint all through. Then, you wait until the first coat dries before thoroughly checking through your work and do all the necessaries before the final phase of painting.
