Cool Pavement With White Roads Can Cool Down Entire Cities

Black asphalt makes cities hot, so cities are coating their streets white. This is called cool pavement, and the hope is that some of the sun will be reflected instead of absorbed. If Los Angeles used cool pavement on 35% of its streets, it could save $100 million in energy costs.
